How to make a three-dimensional mask
Cut the fabric according to the pattern
Cut the outer fabric according to the pattern.
Fold the lining fabric pattern along the lining cut line and cut the lining fabric together.
2. Sew outer fabrics together and lining fabrics together
Place the outer fabrics and the lining fabrics together with the center sides facing each other, and sew the curved parts together with a seam allowance of 1cm.
3. Sew the outer fabric and lining fabric together
Make cuts at 1cm intervals in the seam allowance of the curved part.
Make a cut about 2mm away from the seam.
Iron the seam allowance.
It’s easier to fold the item and iron one side at a time, rather than unfolding it and ironing it.
*We received an opinion that instead of splitting the seam allowance on both sides, it would be better to turn it to one side and add a presser stitch. It might be better to do so because the seam area won’t get stiff even after washing. Please change as you like. This is what happens when you divide the seam allowance.
Place the outer fabric and lining fabric together with the center sides facing each other and secure with a pin. Make sure to fit it perfectly in the center.
Sew the top and bottom together with a 1cm seam allowance. Sew from edge to edge of the lining.
4. Make a rubber opening
Insert your hand from the side and turn it over. Adjust the shape with an iron. Fold both sides of the outer fabric inward with a 1cm → 2cm trifold and iron. Stitch the folded part. Be sure to backstitch at the beginning and end of sewing.
5. Thread the string
Use a string looper or safety pin to thread the elastic mask string through. Align the ends of the elastic string and tie it into a ball.
The three-dimensional mask is completed!
